Text – Matthew 1: 21. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. 22. Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, 23. Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. 24. Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife: 25. And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.

Luke 2: 11. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

Introduction
The Greek word for Saviour is Jesus, the Hebrew word is Joshua. Joshua in Hebrews tongue is pronounced Yehoshua meaning “God is deliverance “. Yeho means God, Shua means to deliver or save.

As we talk about the birth of Jesus, as we celebrate and remember the day he came into this world of men, I would like us to consider, deliberate and observe closely our great need for Jesus the Saviour.

He came into the world first to save me. Individually we have to come to this realisation that he came for me. He came for individuals.

Acts 4: 11. This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. 12. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Who is a Saviour = he is a deliverer, a rescuer from dangers, difficulties, destruction, condemnation, diversion, corruption, curses, due reward or consequences of self affliction, foolishness, deception, and death.

He is a redeemer, He becomes the essential sacrifice and put everything in line, including his life.
Matthew 1:25. And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.

Jesus, the Saviour is born for me. Jesus the Saviour is born for you. There is no reason anymore for me to suffer nor be afflicted with the evils in this world because, the Saviour has come to my city, the Saviour is here now.

NB: You shall call his name Jesus for he shall save his people from their Sins.

Matthew 1: 21. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
God originally did not create man with sins, sins are man’s inventions as advised by the deceiver, the devil and the number one enemy of man.

Ecclesiastes 7: 29. Lo, this only have I found, that God hath made man upright; but they have sought out many inventions.
Psalm 82: 5. They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course.

Nahum 1: 11. There is one come out of thee, that imagineth evil against the LORD, a wicked counseller.
A person that is captured, overpowered by sin is a person captured and overpowered by Satan and demons. When Jesus, the Saviour saves from sins, he automatically saves from Satan and demons.

1 John 3: 8. He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. 9. Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. 10. In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.

So, the greatest deliverance is deliverance from Sins.
1 John 5: 17. All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death. 18. We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not. 19. And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness. 20. And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life. 21. Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.

Examples:
The paralysed man healed
Mark 2: 3. And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four. 4. And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay. 5. When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee.
The Impotent man healed
John 5: 5. And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years. 6. When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole? 7. The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me. 8. Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.
14. Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.
The woman with the issue of blood healed
Luke 8: 43. And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any, 44. Came behind him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately her issue of blood stanched.

Conclusion:
** Now that the Saviour has come, the greatest offence or sin that anyone will commit is to reject this Saviour.
John 3: 14. And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: 15. That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 16. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19. And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
Make Jesus the foundation of anything you are aspiring to build in order to prevent labour loss and time wastage
1 Corinthians 3: 11. For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
