Ephesians 1: 10. That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him: 11. In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will: 12. That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. 13. In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, 14. Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory. –
“Giving thanks to the Father, Who has qualified and made us fit to share the portion which is the inheritance of the saints (God’s holy people) in the Light.”

INTRODUCTION
An inheritance is anything that can be inherited. Another word for inheritance could be, Birthright, heritage, legacy etc.
In the case of our relationship with God in Christ, God Himself is our inheritance, and we are God’s inheritance on the earth.
Psalm 33: 12. Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD: and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.
Deuteronomy 32: 9. For the LORD’s portion is his people; Jacob is the lot of his inheritance. –
Psalm 16: 5. The LORD is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot. –
When God inherits us, we inherit everything in God. The Holy Ghost is the Zenith of this inheritance.
NB: there is another inheritance kept for us in heaven
1 Peter 1: 3. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4. To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, 5. Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. –
The Holy Ghost is our inheritance for now.
You do not need the Holy Ghost in Heaven as we need Him here, we seriously need Him here and now. He is our divine inheritance for here and now and through Him, we receive all spiritual blessings locked up in Christ Jesus.
Why you must receive this Inheritance here and now
** Assurance of Being God’s child
John 3: 5. Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. –
Romans 8: 12. Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. 13. For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. 14. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. 15. For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. 16. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: 17. And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. –
The witness of the Holy Spirit in our hearts produces faith and confidence that we belong to God
Galatians 3: 26. For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. –
The Holy Ghost strengthens our conviction that we have been truly adopted as children and that God loves us as His blood-born children.
Ephesians 1: 3. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: 4. According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: 5. To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. –
** Manifest as children of indeed on the earth
“The whole universe that God has made now waits for something great to happen. Everything is waiting with hope to find out who God’s children really are. God has caused everything in the universe to lose its purpose. It did not choose to be like that. It was God who decided that it should be like that. Then it could hope for something better in a future time.”

You shall receive power, as soon as the Holy Ghost comes upon you, this power will make you to become a witness for Jesus Christ everywhere. A witness carries the evidence
Acts 1: 8. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. –
** Receive Divine Help and be helped in the journey of life
Romans 8: 26. Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. –
He helps our weaknesses, infirmities and limitations. He searches the heart of God and helps us to know God’s mind and God’s will.
John 14: 16. And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; 17. Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. –
He helps us by comforting us in all situations. He helps us to know the truth, He is the Spirit of Truth.
John 14: 26. But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. –
“But Christ has given the Holy Spirit to you, and he continues to help you. So, you do not need people to teach you what is true. The Holy Spirit himself teaches you everything about God’s message. He helps you to know what is really true. He does not tell you any lies. So, you must remember what he has taught you: Remain united with Christ.”

He helps us by teaching us all things and everything that is the truth that God wants us to know.
John 16: 13. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. 14. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you. –
He helps us by giving us grace. He is the Spirit of grace.

** To win the spiritual warfare (war of spirits)
John 10: 10. The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. –
Isaiah 10: 27. And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing. –
1 Peter 5: 8. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: –
Since man dialogued with Satan in the garden of Eden, humans have become the objects of a very violent, fight-to-finish battles of spirits in the heavens and on the earth. While God wants man for Himself, there are spiritual powers and forces that also desire to have man for evil and disastrous agenda.
Ephesians 6: 11. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. –
NB: Not only believers are exposed to their activities, but only believers can wrestle with them. Only believers can confront them, violence with violence and force with force. God’s word spoken activates the power of the Holy Ghost against evil spirits. The blood and the name of Jesus Christ used in faith also releases the Holy Ghost’s power against evil spirits.
John 6: 63. It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. –
Mark 16: 17. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; –
Revelation 12: 11. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. –
** Freedom to express your destiny and purpose
2 Corinthians 3: 15. But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart. 16. Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away. 17. Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 18. But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. –
** To profit in life and be fruitful in life
The fruit of the Holy Ghost makes us fruitful in life, while the gifts of the Holy Spirit makes us to profit and be successful in life.
Galatians 5: 22. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23. Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. –
1 Corinthians 12: 4. Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5. And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. 6. And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. 7. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. –
How to Receive this Inheritance
Grow up and be matured in God
Galatians 4: 1. Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all; 2. But is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father. 3. Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world: 4. But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, 5. To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. 6. And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. 7. Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ. –
Ask and place a serious demand on God for your inheritance
Luke 15: 11. And he said, A certain man had two sons: 12. And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living. –
Luke 11: 10. For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. 11. If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? 12. Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? 13. If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him? –
